Spearhead Traverse Training clinic
progression with the Zenith guide team
What's this about?
We get lots of requests to guide the Spearhead Traverse in a day push. Honestly, we like doing it in a day better than camping out. However, it requires a level of efficiency that many tourers aren’t quite used to. When you take 5 min at each transition, you’re spending almost 2 hours of your day doing transitions (and 5 min is quick for a lot of people)! We’ve realized that a lot of the little efficiencies we practice day in and day out will make a huge difference to doing your first Spearhead day trip and that’s what this clinic is all about!
WHAT TO BRING
Strong skiing skills and deep fitness.
A good base of backcountry experience
Basic ski mountaineering skills
Glacier travel kit
Lightweight pin binding ski/boot setup.
What you get:
A big day of skiing in the Blackcomb backcountry. This will be a fitness test alone and will be a good indicator for readiness for the full traverse.
Transition and efficiency practice. We’ll cover all the little things that get taken for granted. Quick rip transitions to descend. Proper order of operations. And most important - on the go snacking.
Rope skills - we’ll dial in rope kits and how we rig our setup for travel on the traverse as well as get a practice rappel in so you’re familiar before dropping into the Overlord Notch.
Dates and RATES
$300 per person (+ tax).
