Winter is coming fast. Brush up on your crevasse rescue skills now so you’re not having to watch a YouTube tutorial while your buddy is stuck in a slot!
This is a single-day dryland session in Squamish. We’ll start with a basic overview of critical knots and the best gear that we use. It’s just a couple knots I promise - not intimidating!
After that, we’ll move into raising and lowering. The key to crevasse rescue is being able to switch between the two. This is where things get hung up and take more time but if you can get smooth at your transitions, crevasse rescue and rock rescue become a breeze!
One of the big advantages to doing this course rather than just re-reading Freedom of the Hills again is we’ll give all of our tips and strategies for keeping systems tight. There’s little efficiencies in how we manipulate the rope for example that all add up to a better system.
